New Life-Saving Cable Legislation for 2015

New legislation set to tackle the amount of fire cable related deaths is set to take effect from 1st July 2015.

Falling cables have, in recent years, resulted in tragic consequences for people trying to escape from fires, and fire-fighters attempting to tackle them. New regulations aim to prevent cable entanglement in these scenarios, and will require cables in all escape routes to be fixed to the surface of the walls or the underside of ceilings.

Electrical Safety First, in collaboration with Fire and Rescue services have successfully campaigned for the regulation change, which is likely to be a life saving improvement.
